National Union of Students (NUS) votes against a motion to boycott Coca-Cola
Today the National Union of Students (NUS), one of the largest student organizations in the world that represents colleges and universities throughout the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, voted against a motion which called for a boycott of Coca-Cola due to false allegations about the company’s labor practices in Colombia and environmental practices in India.
The Coca-Cola Company has been involved in more than two years of constructive engagement and dialogue with NUS Services Limited on behalf of the wider student movement. During that period a number of major changes have been made in the way the company operates and the input of NUSSL has played an important role in this.
We now look forward to building on this and continuing constructive engagement with both NUSSL and NUS going forward.
The NUS has nearly 750 constituent members – virtually every college and university in the country.
