Coca-Cola provides Relief to Flood-Affected Families

The past couple of weeks have been a trying time for Maharashtra and in particular, Mumbai City. The unexpected level of rainfall took a toll, causing floods that devastated lives and landscapes.

Though Wada plant was not adversely impacted by the unprecedented floods, many Coca-Cola families living in Kalyan, Badlapur, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Titwala, Kharegaon and Thane were affected. From 28th July onwards, Wada associates came together to drive relief operations and took turns in ensuring that food and drinking water was made available to the affected Coca-Cola families. 19,800 Kinley bottles were also distributed to Kalyan, Municipal hospital, & Barave village.

These efforts were aptly coordinated by QA Manager, Mr. Prabodh Halde, the Finance manager Mr. Shrikant Ropalekar and Welfare Executive, Ravindra Joshi. Relief efforts were continued for the following 10 days. On Saturday, 6th August, the management team of Wada held a special lunch for the 16 affected families.

In fact, Coca-Cola was the first organization to provide aid in Badlapur, much before any news channel even reached the site. Our operators waded through knee-deep water to ensure that drinking water reached families at Badlapur, as most roads there had been washed away during the flooding.

The Mumbai Sales Team also pitched in to help some of the most flood-ravaged areas of Mumbai. 800 cases of Kinley were distributed to families in Chembur, Nehru Nagar, Kalina & Powai. Tomorrow 12th August, we will see the distribution of 500 plastic mats to flood-affected families at Kurla. Coca-Cola's relief work will continue as Mumbai recuperates.
