Coca–Cola India spreads environment awareness at Indian Premier League match – 300 children display environmental preservation and protection messages

Coca–Cola India in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and St Stephen’s school joined together to spread awareness about environment preservation and protection. Approximately 300 children from St. Stephen’s School, Chandigarh, management and technical institutes and cricket academies in the city displayed messages concerning the environment during the Indian Premier League match held between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals recently in Mohali. Messages like save water, share water, save life; Treat water as an asset and manage it like a legacy; Go green, recycle PET; Heal the Earth, make it green and others were displayed at the cricket match.

“Coca–Cola is committed to protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment,” said Abhijeet Mukherjee, Region General Manager, Coca-Cola India. “In the last few years, we have taken a series of initiatives on water sustainability and environment protection and have continuously been working with government, NGOs, communities, suppliers and other partners to address various environmental challenges that affect the society and our business.”

The initiative also marks the beginning of a weeklong celebration of World Environment Day by the Company and also takes forward Project ‘CONSERVE’ –a water conservation and management project – launched recently by Coca–Cola India and CII.

Speaking at the event, Salil Singhal, Chairman, CII Northern Region, said, “We are happy to partner with Coca–Cola to further the cause of environment management and awareness. Cricket is a powerful medium and I am glad that Coca–Cola is supporting CII to promote this important and responsible cause.”

Project ‘CONSERVE’ promotes industry engagement on rainwater harvesting and community water conservation programs and is being implemented over a period of one year in the Northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.
