Coca–Cola India joined hands with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farm Science Centre) and local farmers to develop 15 drip irrigation projects in Kaladera, Rajasthan, with an aim to bring water efficiency to agricultural endeavors.
Dr. S. S. Rathore, Program Coordinator Krishi Vigyan Kendra, shared the benefits of drip irrigation at the launch ceremony and noted, “Coca–Cola is a frontrunner in taking up water sustainability initiatives and it is indeed very encouraging to see that the farmers of the area have come forward to adopt the new irrigation technology which will make agriculture more water efficient.”
Sunder Giri, General Manager– Area Operations Coca–Cola India, said, “The objective of this partnership with Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the farmers is to work towards the sustainability of water. These projects will help in bringing efficiency in the water used in agriculture and will help in water conservation.”
Drip Irrigation projects will bring down the water usage by almost 70-80%, helping farmers cultivate the existing farm area by four times.
Coca–Cola recently received community recognition from the villagers of Kaladera in Rajasthan for various Citizenship initiatives. Some of the projects include restoration of ancient step wells – Sarai Bawri & Kale Hanuman ki Bawri, 140 recharge shafts and setting up of rain water harvesting projects in near by villages.
