Coca-Cola India spearheads 'Jaldhaare Karavanan' - An awareness campaign to inform & educate industrialsits about Water Conservation in Bangalore

Coca-Cola India in association with Rashtra Bandhu, an All India Federation of grassroots-level NGOs launched ‘Jaladhaare Karavan’ campaign to increase awareness about the management of surface water through Rain Water Harvesting Projects. The ‘Jaladhaare Karavan’ Campaign was flagged off by the Governor of Karnataka, His Excellency, Shri T N Chaturvedi comprising of a tableau, prominent environmentalists & rainwater harvesting experts who walked through the streets of Bangalore spreading the message of Water Conservation to the citizens on April 17, 2006.

The First phase of the campaign intends to cover 28 industrial areas in Bangalore & will organize thirteen symposiums. It aims to de-swamp Bangalore through proper rainwater harvesting & groundwater recharge by creating awareness amongst industrialists, layout developers, builders, engineers & contractors etc. & will encourage them to take up Rain Water Harvesting initiatives in their premises.

Speaking on the occasion Mr G. Srinivas Krishna, Head of Operations – Karnataka, Hindustan Coca-Cola beverages Private Limited said, “Rainwater harvesting is a proven technique for conserving water and increasing the groundwater availability. We are pleased to contribute towards this unique programme for spreading awareness to conserve water and will continue to work with communities for improving long-term sustainability.”

Other prominent members present at the campaign included Shri V R Sudarshan, Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri H K Patil, Gandhinagar MLA, Shri Dinesh Gundurao, MLC , R V Venkatesh & Shri B N Sureshwara, President, Rashtra Bandhu.
