Coca–Cola India launched a special campaign to promote awareness of safe water and sanitation among households in Nepal recently. The partnership with UN-Habitat and Department of Water Supply and Sewerage (DWSS) will focus on promoting simple household water treatment (HWT) options in urban and semi–vurban communities to improve access to safe water while reducing water borne diseases.
“Working together helped us raise awareness about safe water and household treatment, making a bigger impact in the communities we operate,“ said Dr. Roshan Raj Shrestha, Chief Technical Advisor of the Water for Asian Cities Program in Nepal. The campaign will support producers of HWT options in expanding their distribution network and raise the demand for these options through social marketing,” added Dr Shrestha.
Deepak Jolly from Coca-Cola India stressed the fact that Water is fundamental to all communities and businesses thrive only amidst vibrant and sustainable societies. “We are excited about working with UN–Habitat, the Government of Nepal, local NGOs and producers of the HWT options to ensure that the local communities have improved access to safe water, which also improves the overall standard of living in communities” he said.
This unique partnership between public and private sectors will work to improve both the demand and supply of various HWT options, providing better access to the general public.
