Rain Water Harvesting Project in Chittaranjan Park
Coca-Cola India in association with the Residents' Welfare Association, Chittaranjan Park, FORCE, an NGO, dedicated another 1.35 million Litres Rain Water Harvesting Project to the people of C R Park on September 20, 2006. This is another step undertaken in fostering public-private partnerships for taking up community development projects.
The Project was inaugrated by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms Shiela Dikshit. Speaking on the occasion she said, "Its heartening to note some path breaking initiatives being taken by many NGOs & corporates in the realm of water management since fresh water is a global challenge and needs the urgent attention of all stakeholders."
The launch of the RWH project at C R Park is one amongst the 40 projects that Coca-Cola India is commissioning this year. Out of these, 10 projects are being commissioned in Delhi of which 6 have already been completed.

Also present at the function were Shri Subhash Chopra, MLA, Shri Virender Kasana, MPIL. Councillor & Member DDA, Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Kandhari, Managing Director, Enrich Agro Food Products Ltd. – Franchise partner of Coca-Cola in India, Jyoti Sharma, President FORCE and other distinguished guests. Around 350 people were present to extend their full support to the project.
Rain Water Harvesting has emerged as a viable option to redirect rain water in the ground, which otherwise goes waste. Mr. Subhash Chandra, MLA appreciated the efforts of the Company for having commisioned the Rain Water Harvesting Project.
According to Mr. VPS Kandhari, MD, Enrich Agro Food Products Ltd., "Coca-Cola India undertakes a diverse range of activities for the benefit of the community across the country. Water management remains a priority and the company pursues the 4R program of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recharge to achieve the objective of water management & conservation."
The company already supports several such projects in the country and has commissioned 220 RWH structures in 17 states. In Delhi alone, the existing RWH structures have the potential to harvest more than 100 million liters of rain water.
