Spreading awareness on Water Conservation at Educational Institutions

A roof–top rain water harvesting project was recently launched in a College in Varanasi, creating an annual ground water recharge potential of 2200 cubic meters.

Launching the project in Varanasi, Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh from Poorvanchal University urged everyone to save water and praised Coca-Cola for its conservation efforts. “Coca-Cola is doing a great work in building a healthy environment for our future generations,” said Dr. Singh.

Dr J P Singh, Dean, UP College opined that arresting the decline in the ground water level is the need of the hour. “Coca–Cola is taking a lead in addressing this issue. Working with Coca-Cola on this project has been a great learning experience for the entire faculty and the students of the college and also an enlightening one.”

Vineet Khosla, from Coca-Cola addressed the students and shared the company's perspective on the four R policy – Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recharge for water conservation. He also talked about the ways of preserving and conserving water and the environment.

In addition, the company is also working on four new Roof–Top Rain Water Harvesting Projects covering a total roof–top area of over 14,300 square meter, which will create annual ground water recharge potential of over 12,000 cubic meter.

“Coca–Cola is also involved in the restoration of Sarang pond at Sarnath and Lehartara pond in Varanasi,” noted, Khosla. The students were very appreciative of the facts shared about water and environment conservation and the ways to give back water that we take from Mother Earth.

A painting competition was also organized on the theme of Water conservation which received an over whelming response from the students.
