Coca–Cola celebrates World Earth Day with the children of SOS Village
Coca–Cola India in association with FORCE, a Non Government Organization, held a week–long World Earth Day celebration with the children of SOS Village at Bawana in Delhi.
As part of the festivities, the village set up a rain water harvesting project with a capacity to harvest 10 million liters of water – a first amongst forty SOS villages across India.
The week long celebration was organized under the theme of ‘Water Conservation’ and included a series of educational & recreational activities to increase the children’s awareness. The activities ranged from debates and quizzes to face painting and a poster making competition. The children also signed a pledge board with a commitment to conserve water.
Jyoti Sharma from FORCE commented, “It is an honor to be associated with SOS Village because of the organization’s commitment for the care of deprived children & aims to nurture the children in distress.”
Kartar Singh from Congress Committee commended Coca–Cola India’s participation for the welfare of the children. Harpreet Singh, Deputy National Director, SOS Children’s Village added, “The project set up under the guidance of Central groundwater board will help arrest water level ensuring steady supply of water for the children of SOS village.”
